Sunday: The message behind all things.

Today in church the speaker talked about the doctrine behind all things, the most important principle we should learn, the driving force and the message in all teachings of Christ is Service.

Service to others, service to God, service to our guiding spirit within us, service to our soul, service to each other.

When God speaks of his prophets he calls them his servants.

Every act Jesus performed and lived while he was on earth was in the service of God and others, even those who we would consider undeserving. Jesus spent his days trying to teach us this principle in everything he did-- be of service to others. Especially those who you feel are undeserving because they are the ones in need of it most

Everyone on this planet is just as important to God as another regardless of their actions, they are still his son or daughter and he would tell us not give up on them.

Today is the tenth anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11. On that day thousands of people came to the service of others. Some who had lost loved ones gave service to those who had also lost and in doing so began to heal.

Each time that we pray for God to take our pain away, to help us gain the strength to carry our burdens, to help us see the good in our trials, to begin to forgive ourselves or others, we typically do not get an answer put in front of us at that very moment. Sometimes we may feel that our prayers have gone unanswered, when really God has already given us the answer of how to receive his message. By being the answer to someone else's prayer we can receive the answer to our own.

We shouldn't have to wait for a tragedy to happen to see that the people around us are in need  of our help. Each of us is just trying to make it through this life. If you are having struggles lose yourself in helping another. It doesn't have to be something spectacular, just being kind can help a person have the strength to carry on.

The message is: You will receive the answers to your prayers when you are in the service of others.  Set our to be the answer to someones prayer each day.

Matthew 25:34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

"Service is at the heart of eternal life and our personal destinies. The basic test in this life is what we choose to do and become. The Savior has told us what to do: “For the works which ye have seen me do that shall ye also do” (3 Ne. 27:21). He has said what we should become: “Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am” (3 Ne. 27:27). By choosing to do His work we become like Him.~ ELDER V. DALLAS MERRELL, Vision of Service

Service changes people. It refines, purifies, gives a finer perspective, and brings out the best in each one of us. It gets us looking outward instead of inward. It prompts us to consider others’ needs ahead of our own. Righteous service is the expression of true charity, such as the Savior showed.~ELDER DEREK A. CUTHBERT, The Spirituality of Service

"...when an individual is filled with charity, that individual’s thoughts, feelings, and actions become more like those of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as motivations and desires fall in line with divine will."
"...“in all of our service, we need to be sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Ghost.” He says that “the still, small voice will let us know who needs our help and what we can do to help them.”~ Elder Ballard, Serve God By Serving Others

Mosiah 18:8-9..., as ye areadesirous to come into the bfold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;
 Yea, and are awilling to mourn with those that bmourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand ascwitnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the dfirst resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—

In your service every day,

LA
